Bounce (2000)

In this film, the great name Fred, was once again used in a disparaging manner.
Here's the Fred infraction: A Rotweiler, belonging to Gwyneth Paltrow's character, becomes upset and angry with Ben Affleck's character. Ben's response to the dog's anger, "You probably pissed him off because you called him Fred."
All the Freds here at FredQuarters liked the film, but didn't appreciate the negative Fred reference.
Here's what the critics said about the movie:
Abby a young widow, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, is swept off her feet after meeting Buddy, portrayed by Ben Affleck. When Buddy reveals he once gave up his seat on a plane that later crashed, the two realize they have a deeper connection.
This pandering film tries to squeeze every drop of bittersweet emotion from the audience. The film wallows in its self-indulgences. Paltrow's performance is engaging but suffers from the script's lack of substance. Affleck's character is too cloying and ingratiating to be believable. The 'Fred' reference was uncalled for!
"Bounce" is rated PG-13 for language and sexual content.
