Bye Bye Freddie!

One Sheet Movie Poster (27' x 41') from the 1944 film 'The Town Went Wild,' starring Freddie Bartholomew & James Lydon.

Not exactly the 'Gone With the Wind' of its time, this light-hearted farce marked the end of the career of one of the most popular child actors in history — Freddie Bartholomew . The movie, which starts slow and finishes even slower, is about feuding fathers (played by famous character actors Henry Harrison and Edward Everett Horton) who discover the shocking news that their sons (Bartholomew and Lydon) were switched at birth. Further complicating matters is that the daughter of one of the fathers is about to marry Freddie Bartholomew, which means that she could be marrying her own brother! In typical Hollywood style, everything is resolved in the end: the non-incestuous couple marries and the feuding fathers become good buddies. Oops! We gave away the ending, didn’t we?
