Fred'tasia'
Fred was responsible for many of the scenes with Mickey Mouse from Fantasia, including 'The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.' Remember when the brooms came alive and Mickey’s world was flooded by an ocean of water cascading down the hallway? That was Fred’s mastery at work!
According to Fred, 'Fantasia' initially received bad reviews. Fred attributes the failure to the fact that audiences had a difficult time associating the music used in the film to the animation. "We were working on a second ‘Fantasia’, but because of the reviews, it was shelved," Fred says. He feels that his classical music training may have given him an edge over the other animators. "I was able to illustrate to the beat right along with Leopold Stokowski."
Today, 'Fantasia' is considered one of the finest animated films of all time.
