From regular appearances on America's top television talk shows -- to White House performances for two decades of US presidents -- to entertaining corporate giants. Fred Travalena commands standing ovations wherever he appears. Maintaining his status as one of the country's top impressionists, Travalena also boasts a dazzling array of talents including actor ("The Buddy Holly Story," "Murphy Brown" and "Walker, Texas Ranger"), singer (voted #1 by the US Army Special Services Division) and writer ("Comedy in the Oval Office" and "The Great Debate of '88") --just to name a few.
Born in the Bronx and raised on Long Island. Travalena began his professional career in the greatest comic training ground of all, the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York. It was there he perfected his hilarious style and was noticed by Shirley MacLaine. He went on and opened for and co-starred with MacLaine for many years in Las Vegas. Fred's amazingly real impersonations of famous (and infamous) people, including President Clinton, Ross Perot, Clint Eastwood and Frank Sinatra, have earned him high profile exposure in all media. Fred has appeared on all the popular television shows including "David Letterman, ""The Tonight Show"(17 times), "Regis and Kathie Lee,""Larry King Live,"" Sally Jesse Raphael," Joan Rivers and Bud Freedman's highly acclaimed "An Evening at the Improv." Travelena's voice has been used for several cartoon characters on shows including The Smurfs, Shirt tales and Dungeons and Dragons. He can also be heard on numerous national radio and television commercials. He co-produced and starred in an ACE award-winning comedy special on The Family Channel as well as guest-starred on highly-rated specials with Bob Hope, George Burns and others.
In 1995, Travalena celebrated his fifth year as co-host of the National Arthritis Telethon. Over the years, he has helped to raise funds for many charities. Fred says, "When you have been blessed as much as I have, you should give some of it back to help those less fortunate."He has received several honors, including the "Congressman's Merit Award" for assisting in the struggle to account for MIAs in Southeast Asia, the "Angel of the Year" and the "Telly Award."
